I’ve cried wolf on these pages before. But this time it’s seems to be for real (or alternatively, did Stratfor actually guess at the story, but pulled the trigger on it too early?). “Law enforcers” have picked up Sheikh Hasina. Charges are not known at this time.
What could this mean? Why now?
And are they going to pick up Khaleda Zia too at the same time? Or have they arrested Sheikh Hasina because she’s a bigger threat to the SOE government’s plans at the moment, and Khaleda Zia’s more or less isolated already?
UPDATE: Khaleda Zia is being called to the court as well, Syed writes in the comments, and I’m hearing this from other sources as well.

Yes it looks like with the declaration of the “roadmap” the time for table talk and tea chatter is over. Now the moment of truth has arrived for the powers that be behind this government. Khaleda has been asked to appear before some court on Monday BD time. She is already down and almost out…by coming down hard on her they risk making her a martyr for no cause. So they’re avoiding it…for now. The “reform” on that side of the aisle is proceeding splendidly. Khaleda is not deemed much of a threat to their agenda any more. RATS/STAR, however, have failed to create much interest amongst the awami league grass root. So she had to be challenged and humbled. It is a risky move. Outcome is by no means certain of this move and unintended consequences may follow. But the risk was deemed worth taking cause the lack or progress or limbo on the reform agenda due to this would jeoperdize the whole “reform’ agenda.
