Gonotontro mukti pak - Let democracy be free!
Read about Nur Hossain’s story here, and here at Banglapedia.
Been meaning to post a lot of thoughts on a number of different things: The separation of the judiciary from the executive. The BNP ‘reorganization’. Jamaat acting up. Other stuff. But things are really busy for me right now in school. I am racing against the clock to get some papers complete, and my minds quite preoccupied as well with making some major decisions on which law firm to work for. Hopefully I’ll be able to break out of this blogging funk soon.
But in the mean time, I hope everyone is watching the Pakistan State of Emergency unfold. Tamasha dekho, as they say… Here’s something to chew on: Note that the US was against state of emergency being declared, and had it not been for the US, Musharraf would probably have declared it a few months ago. A key lesson here is that international protectors of a regime such as Musharraf’s can constrain its iron hand for only so long. Survival is a higher law - take that down as a rule.
